Thermal Analysis
Very often in our electro-magnetic analysis we have come across heating either localised due to resistive losses in coils, eddy currents in metals or environmental or ambient sources within the application itself.
The ability to analyse such effects is extremely important in designing electro-magnetic devices and thus Goudsmit added this capability to the company some 2-3 years ago. Since then this new capability has not only allowed us to analyse the thermal capacity of electro-mechanical devices but also to examine the thermal comportment of other applications.
Areas that the company has looked at include:
- Thermal profile of stepper motor
- Thermal profile of linear actuator
- Electronic heat sink
- Radiator bar design
- Temperature profile of heating fan cowl
Below is an example of a radiator extrusion in aluminium looking at the temperature of the extruded bar once thermal equilibrium has been reached. The bar has also been modelled using CFD to look at the convection patterns and to add these patterns to the overall design.
Design Methodology is described under the consultancy section and we use a lot of the techniques highlighted in our Project Management section to enable us to achieve the deadlines required.
