Introduction

Throughout its 45 year history Goudsmit Magnetics Group has always ascribed to manufacturing products to the highest possible quality. Prior to the introduction of Quality Assurance Standards such as ISO 9001, Goudsmit Magnetics had QA systems in place that ensured that products met the standards expected by customers.

The introduction of ISO 9001 was easily and readily adopted by Goudsmit Magnetics Group being first obtained in 1996. Today Goudsmit have the processes, equipment and expertise to meet the quality level demanded in today’s marketplace.

QA System

Goudsmit’s ISO 9001 approved QA system is focused around the needs of customers delivering each client with a quality program that is both cost effective and covers the key parameters critical to their application.

Quality plans run from AQL samples rates right up to SPC on critical dimensions. For automotive products we can provide APQP and ISR documentation as well as FMEA planning. With reject rates ranging from 1 to 10 ppm, Goudsmit&#rsquo;s quality system is lean and effective.

Test Equipment

Within our modern lab facility we have an extensive range of tools available to ensure that product quality levels are achieved.

• Dimensions & Materials

Verniers, micrometers and gauges right up to a CMM machine are used to verify dimensional tolerances. Material properties can be checked using X-ray and spectrometer services which are available from a formally certified laboratory.

CMM Machine:

A Permagraph is used for automatic measurement & verification of the magnetic characteristics of the magnets supplied by Goudsmit. Magnetic quantities such as remanence, coercivity and maximum energy product are readily determined. A high power magnetisation station is available to allow for full magnetisation and de-magnetisation of all materials.

• Circuit Boards

Specialized equipment such as a comparative optical test station is employed to check the specifications of circuit boards. Goudsmit also carry out bare board testing to 40 V and functionality tests of populated boards

QA Documentation

QA documentation plays a key part in the Goudsmit QA system, right from purchase of raw material to shipment of the finished product. Each material batch used for manufacture is supplied with certificates of conformance from approved suppliers. In turn, the finished product can be supplied with a certificate of conformance for material, dimension, finish and functionality.
