Assembly Skills And Technology

One of the main benefits of using Goudsmit is that we are not just an assembly house but also have core manufacturing capability. Nearly all our sub-contract products stem from initially making one of the components and then later being charged to make the whole device. As such we have an array of QA equipment and processes in place to make sure that any third party components in your product are correctly tested and monitored for their compliance to specification.

Manufacturing Skills

These details are already covered in the magnetic products, assemblies and industrial components areas of the site. However a non-exhaustive list of our capabilities is as below.

  • Magnets
  • Turned parts CNC and automatic
  • Stamped partsMiniAssembly
  • Machined parts CNC
  • Injection moulded parts
  • Die-cast parts
  • Investment cast parts
  • Springs, clips and connectors
  • Extruded aluminium
  • Motors, laminations and coils
  • Circuit boards surface mount and through hole

Assembly Skills

In order to combine the above we have had to develop a range of technologies which have been mostly client driven. These allow us not only to perform a good number of the more common assembly operations in use in industry today but also allow us to judge the most cost-effective and technically superior method of assembly. For example in some cases heat staking is much quicker and more efficient to perform than say ultra-sonic welding while giving a better mechanical assembly performance.

  • Encapsulation
  • Twin shot moulding
  • Heat staking
  • Ultra-sonic welding
  • Over moulding
  • Press fitting
  • D ring sealing
  • Gluing using structural adhesives
  • Hot gluing
  • Powder coating
  • Painting
  • All types of metal finishing and polishing

Testing Methods

As important as manufacture is, testing is also essential to the performance of the product. In addition to our ISO 9001 rating we also have the aim of achieving 100% zero defect manufacture for sub-contract manufactured goods which is often implemented by having end of line testing stations. Final goods have a much larger value added component to them and it is important that they are right before being shipped. A common list of tests we perform are as shown but any test can be implemented on customer demand.

  • CMMElectrical continuity
  • Electrical Isolation
  • Current consumption
  • Performance test e.g. speed, airflow
  • High voltage flash test
  • EMC testing
  • Full dimensional tests
  • Destructive testing
  • Drop tests
  • Mechanical dimension checks
  • Mass spectromery analysis
  • Corrosion and salt spray testing

Packaging

Having taken a lengthy amount of time and effort to make your product to specification the last thing that must be right is the packaging and labeling. Many of our clients have all their own instructions, printing and packaging needs which can be sent to us in physical or digital format. We are expreienced in producing packaging to pantone specifications and also to re-cycling specifications. Typical solutions are as below.

  • Carton
  • Box
  • Printed box
  • Printed box with internal instructions
  • Blister packing
  • Client specific
