What time did you get up this morning?

07:00am.

What attracted you to Goudsmit UK?

Goudsmit UK’s niche and area of work made it stand out among other companies. Also, being a smaller family owned business it presented an opportunity for a wider range of experiences and responsibilities.

Describe your job in 5 words

Engineering, quality, planning, organising, challenging.

What does your job entail?

Finding and implementing new ways to make the work load of others more efficient and as seamless as possible through quality management systems.  Planning and organising long term projects that ensure the business is up to date with modern quality assurance practices.

What does a typical day involve for you?

Monitoring quality documents and project planning.

How did you get into this line of work?

I have always been curious of how things worked from a young age and a love of cars and all things mechanical came along with that. This, along with being more math orientated drew me towards engineering.

What’s the best part of your job at Goudsmit UK?

The level of responsibility and trust between co-workers.

What personal qualities are required to do your job?         

Problem solving, organisation, logical thinking

What’s the biggest challenges you face in your job?

Organising time critical projects with third parties. Finding out that many of the topics and practices taught at university are irrelevant when actually working within the industry. Also, the majority of common practices found in the real-world industry are not covered in university.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is seeing how my work impacts everybody else, significantly reducing their work load by making processes more efficient.

What’s the best piece of advice you could give to a new person joining your team?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions or put forward new ideas. Just because something is done a certain way doesn’t mean that it can’t be improved and made better.

What do you do in your spare time?

Gym, woodworking, working on cars, music.

Any fun / interesting facts about you?

I like to make furniture out of live edge slabs of wood.

What time will you get home this evening?

5:15 or 6:30 if I can get the motivation to go to the gym.
