What information do I need to provide for a custom magnet quote?
A 2D drawing and 3D Model in .Step format are preferred. Ideally, let us know:
    • Approximate shape and dimensions.
    • Magnetic material or performance needs (e.g. pull force, temperature rating).
    • Quantity and application.
Our engineers will guide you through the rest.
Can you help me choose the best magnetic material or grade?
Yes, our engineers can advise on magnetic material / grade based on your application. For example:
    • NdFeB for highest strength.
    • SmCo for high temperature or corrosion resistance.
    • Ferrite for cost-effective solutions.
    • AlNiCo for stability.
We offer grades from N35 to N55, and high-temp options like N42SH or N48UH. We’ll help balance performance, size, and cost.
    What industries do you serve?
We work across automotive, aerospace, medical, rail, energy, automation, and more. Our magnets are used in motors, sensors, actuators, couplings, and other high-performance applications.
What are your tolerances and manufacturing limits?
Typical tolerances are ±0.1 mm (standard), ±0.05 mm if ground. However, this can vary based on the magnetic material used. Our experts can advise on exact tolerances based on requirements. Tighter tolerances are available on request if required.  Minimum and maximum dimensions also vary by magnetic material and shape. For example:
    • Neodymium Block magnet:
      • Minimum dimension = 1 x 1 x 1mm.
      • Maximum dimension = 160 x 150 x 50mm.
    • Neodymium Disc magnet:
      • Minimum dimension = Ø 1.5 x 0.5mm.
      • Maximum dimension = Ø 150 x 50mm.
    • Neodymium Ring magnet:
      • Minimum dimension = Ø 3 x Ø 1 x 1mm.
      • Maximum dimension = Ø 150 x Ø * x 50mm (*inside diameter in consultation).
Our experts can advise on precise dimensions and tolerances based on the specific magnetic material, dimensions and shape used.
Can you supply magnet assemblies or sub-assemblies?
Yes, we can deliver fully assembled magnetic components, not just standalone magnets. Our capabilities include:
    • Mechanical assembly: press-fit, interference fit, threaded etc.
    • Over-moulding and insert moulding for robust, integrated solutions.
    • Advanced bonding techniques: adhesive bonding, ultrasonic welding, traditional & laser welding.
    • Engineering support: assembly drawings, and application-specific design advice.
We work with you to deliver a magnet assembly that’s production-ready and tailored to your application.
How do you ensure quality and consistency?
Quality is at the core of everything we do at Goudsmit UK. We operate under a robust, multi-stage quality system to ensure every part meets specification:
    • ISO 9001 certified production with full traceability across the supply chain.
    • Exceptional performance: In 2024 we achieved a parts-per-million (PPM) defect rate of just 0.035%.
    • Proven 5-step QA process incorporating inspection, documentation, and continuous improvement.
    • In-person audits at our production facilities in China by GUK quality team, in-line with ISO 9001 requirements.

What if my magnet needs to operate in harsh conditions?
We regularly supply magnets for demanding environments — including high heat, moisture, and corrosive exposure. To ensure long-term performance, we offer:
    • Specialist coatings such as NiCuNi, epoxy nand gold plating for corrosion and wear resistance.
    • High-temperature grades, including NdFeB options rated up to 250°C and SmCo magnets for even higher thermal stability.
    • Material and design recommendations tailored to your operating conditions, including impact resistance and enclosure options.

Do you offer design and simulation support?
Yes — our engineering team provides comprehensive design advice to ensure your magnets perform as intended in real-world conditions. This includes:
    • 2D and 3D Magnetic Modelling (FEA): Simulating field strength, flux density, and force to optimise your design.
    • Performance Optimisation: Helping reduce material use, improve efficiency, or miniaturise components without compromising function.
    • End-to-End Engineering Support: From initial concept and prototyping to full production, we act as a technical partner throughout the process.

Do you supply prototype or low-volume orders?
While producing magnets in larger quantities is more cost-effective, we can support small batch production and prototyping for most magnet types, depending on the design and complexity, MOQ may apply.
What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
MOQs depend on material and complexity, but we aim to be as flexible as possible. Let us know your requirements and we’ll advise accordingly. ) )
